When World War III Started - 1979

This is not very long, but very informative.  You have to read the catalogue of events in this brief piece. Then, ask yourself how anyone can take the position that all we have to do is bring our troops home from Iraq, reset the snooze alarm, go back to sleep, and no one will ever bother us again. In case you missed it, World War III began in November 1979...

That's what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When more than 3,000 Americans were killed) and maybe it was, but I think it should have been 'Get Out of Bed!' In fact, the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.

It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency.  The attack on this sovereign U. S. Embassy set the stage for events to follow for the next 25 years.

America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert. The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America’s inability to deal with terrorism

America’s military had been decimated and down sized since the end of the Vietnam War. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start.

Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East.  America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued.

In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in   Beirut When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more.

Then just six short months later in 1983 a large truck heavily laden down with over 25 00 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more.

Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait, and America continues her slumber.

The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gate of the US Embassy in Beirut and America slept.

Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe. In April 1985 a bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid

Then in August 1985 a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rheine-Main, 22 are killed and the snooze alarm is buzzing louder and louder as US interests are continually attacked.

Fifty-nine days later in 1985 a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.

The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988, killing 259.

The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder.

The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America.  In January 1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia 

The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City.  Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war? The Snooze alarm is depressed again.

Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.

A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia.  It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America does not respond decisively.

They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.  These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep.

The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000, when a small craft pulled alongside the ship and exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors. Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep.

And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America.  How wrong they are. America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back to sleep.

In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every high official in government over what they knew and what they didn't know. But if you've read the papers and paid a little attention I think you can see exactly what they knew. You don't have to be in the FBI or CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since 1979.

I think we have been in a war for the past 25 years and it will continue until we as a people decide enough is enough. America needs to 'Get out of Bed' and act decisively now. America has been changed forever.  We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to keep hitting the snooze button again and again and roll over and go back to sleep.

Bloomberg’s Monetary Dividend

New York’s Mayor Bloomberg continues to portray his support for the construction of an Islamic mosque at Ground Zero as the moral high ground. Is Bloomberg’s real reason his monetary dividend?  Bloomberg may be getting more out of this than just the glow of moral sanctity, billions more, courtesy his business dealings in Muslim countries. 

If the mosque at Ground Zero isn’t built, Bloomberg said, the terrorists win: “We would compromise our commitment to fighting terror with freedom. We would undercut the values and principles that so many heroes died protecting. We would feed the false impressions that some Americans have about Muslims. We would send a signal around the world that Muslim Americans may be equal in the eyes of the law, but separate in the eyes of their countrymen. And we would hand a valuable propaganda tool to terrorist recruiters, who spread the fallacy that America is at war with Islam.”

There are numerous indications,  that fighting terrorism and standing against bigotry are not the only things that Bloomberg has in mind when he stands with mosque proponents. His moral high ground is questionable in any case, since Bloomberg claims to be standing against terror and bigotry with Ground Zero mosque Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, who refuses to denounce the jihad terror group Hamas, and is an open proponent of Sharia, the Islamic legal system that relegates non-Muslims and women to a second-class status that denies them numerous basic rights.

The more pointed questions are Bloomberg’s increasing business dealings in the Islamic world. In October 2008, Bloomberg’s financial data and news corporation announced that it was expanding operations in Dubai, making its office there into one of the corporation’s regional hubs and quadrupling its staff in the process. Bloomberg Middle East and South Asia Chief Max Linnington announced proudly: “We are going to be bringing all the elements of what you would find in one of Bloomberg’s largest offices here in Dubai.”

And in the spring of 2009, Bloomberg opened a news bureau in Abu Dhabi, joining its existing offices not only in Dubai, but in Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. And Bloomberg Chairman and Managing Director Peter T. Grauer announced plans to expand Dubai operations still more: “Central to our growth strategy is the doubling of staff strength in Dubai office, our 10th regional hub, from 48 to 100 people within a year…. We will be investing not just in more people but also in infrastructure to support clients in the region.”

Grauer revealed that while Bloomberg was taking a bath worldwide, business was booming in the Middle East: “Despite the difficulties faced by the financial sector in the economic turmoil, our terminal sales in the region grew by 2% in the past nine months, when globally we faced a major setback.” Khaleej Times reported that “the New York-based company has drawn up a five-year plan that will see it achieving a two-fold increase in revenue from the Middle East region by 2014.”

Imagine how quickly that revenue stream would dry up if Bloomberg sided with the people whom Rauf and other leaders of the Ground Zero mosque initiative are busy smearing as “Islamophobes” and “bigots.” When his company is doing poorly worldwide except in the Middle East, it couldn’t have been hard for Bloomberg to see on which side his bread was buttered.

For Bloomberg this isn’t a moral issue or a legal issue.  For Bloomberg this is the monetary dividend in supporting the Ground Zero mosque.

Major Tea Party Win And McConnell Defeat

In arguably the biggest political upset of the year, Joe Miller claimed the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate when incumbent GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski conceded Tuesday evening.  He was backed by the Tea Party Express and Sarah Palin.  Miller's win marked the first time it had defeated a sitting senator in a primary.

The Joe Miller win was also another major defeat for Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, not to mention another rejection of the National Republican Senatorial Committee.  McConnell has chosen as his loyal lieutenants at the leadership table Robert Bennett (R-UT), Judd Gregg (R-NH), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX).

Judd Gregg is retiring and McConnell sought to replace him with Trey Grayson of Kentucky. Grayson, however, lost to Rand Paul in the Kentucky GOP Primary.  Conservatives threw Bob Bennett out at the Utah GOP convention, replacing him with firebrand conservative Mike Lee.

Now Lisa Murkowski is defeated, like Bob Bennett, by conservative activists concerned by the fiscal drift of the Republican Party and the overall direction of the American republic.

The stunning result was a huge validation of the political power of Palin as the former Alaska governor has been playing kingmaker in midterm elections. McConnell and the National Republican Senatorial Committee are out of step with conservatives.

Conservatives, led by Jim DeMint and Sarah Palin, are potentially creating the most conservative Senate Republican Conference in the last thirty or so years: Sharron Angle, Ken Buck, Mike Lee, Joe Miller, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, and Pat Toomey will be joining Jim DeMint, Tom Coburn, and David Vitter.

Eric Holder Strikes Again

In a filing this week in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, the Justice Department said that "no charges are either pending or contemplated with respect to al-Nashiri in the near future."  Why won’t the corrupt socialists Barack Hussein Obama and Eric Holder prosecute the USS Cole bomber?

"Its politics at this point," said one military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss policy. He said he thinks the administration does not want to proceed against a high-value detainee without some prospect of civilian trials for other major figures at Guantanamo Bay.

The Defense Department issued a statement Thursday saying the case is not stalled. "Prosecutors in the Office of Military Commissions are actively investigating the case against Mr. al-Nashiri and are developing charges against him," the statement said.

With the 10th anniversary of the Cole bombing approaching on Oct. 12, relatives of those killed in the attack expressed deep frustration with the delay.  "After 10 years, it seems like nobody really cares," said Gloria Clodfelter, whose 21-year-old son, Kenneth, was killed on the Cole.

"I am very confident, based upon what I have heard, that there is more than sufficient evidence linking him to the attack on Cole directly, and that they do not need any of the information that may have come from black site interviews and interrogations," said Kirk S. Lippold, who was commander of the Cole when it was attacked.

Obama and Holder don’t want to try a man who orchestrated the USS Cole attack.  They wouldn’t try the New Black Panthers for voter intimidation.  They are suing Arizona for protecting their border from illegal aliens.  Obama and his administration are the most corrupt anti-American in our history.

“Restoring Honor” Rally And America’s Future

The liberal socialist left Democrats are going crazy.  Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin drew over 300,000 people to Washington DC last Saturday. Conservative Americans came from across America for the “Honor Rally.”  The socialist left can’t draw crowds of this size and they don’t understand Americans refuting their socialist agenda.

The main stream media has shown their socialist bias covering the rally.  First they tried to ignore it.  Then as it became apparent it would be huge they tried to make it a racist event.  When the left calls you names you know they are in trouble.    All of the main stream media major networks have denigrated the “Honor Rally” in any way they can.

From the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, conservative Glenn Beck told a crowd some have estimated to be over half a million of people Saturday that the U.S. has too long "wandered in darkness."

Beck, pacing on the marble steps, said he was humbled by the size of the crowd, which stretched along the Washington Mall's long reflecting pool nearly all the way to the Washington Monument.  "Something beyond imagination is happening," he said. "America today begins to turn back to God."

"For too long, this country has wandered in darkness," said Beck. He said it was now time to "concentrate on the good things in America, the things we have accomplished and the things we can do tomorrow."

Sarah Palin was greeted by chants of "USA, USA, USA" from the crowd.   She told the gathering, "It is so humbling to get to be here with you today, patriots. You who are motivated and engaged ... and knowing never to retreat.  We must restore America and restore her honor," she said, echoing the name of the rally, "Restoring Honor."

Palin told the crowd she wasn't speaking as a politician. "No, something more, something much more. I've been asked to speak as the mother of a soldier and I am proud of that distinction. Say what you want to say about me, but I raised a combat vet and you can't take that away from me." It was a reference to her son, Track, 20, who served a yearlong deployment in Iraq.

Palin likened the rally participants to the civil rights activists who came to the National Mall to hear King's historic speech. She said the same spirit that helped civil rights activists overcome oppression, discrimination, and violence would help this group as well.

"We are worried about what we face. Sometimes, our challenges seem insurmountable," Palin said.  "Look around you. You're not alone," Palin told the crowd.

America stay engaged.  Conservative Christian values are coming back in America.  Election 2010 is 63 days away.

Socialists Argue For Ground Zero Mosque

For the last 40 years or more the socialist Democrats have fought to destroy the Constitution.  On a daily basis they have told America that they know the Constitution and will bend it to achieve their goals of socializing America.

As they have denigrated the Constitution and tried to change its meaning they have also attacked Christians and religion.  Their onslaught against religion is constant and harsh.

They tried to do away with terms like “Merry Christmas.”  They vehemently argue that nothing with a religious connotation can be on government property.

The socialist Democrats deliberately misinterpret the First Amendment.  Their argument is a thin determination that there has to be a separation of church and state.

No one wants a theocracy.  At the same time the First Amendment says government can do nothing to abridge religion.  They have tried to make the words Christian and religion dirty words.

Now though they are trying to defend the building of the Ground Zero mosque.  Their argument is ludicrous and offensive.  They who daily attack religion and the Constitution now want to use them to build the Ground Zero mosque.

The left is now saying it’s a matter of religious freedom and the Muslims Constitutional right to build the mosque at Ground Zero. 

Are they now going to honor religious freedom for Christians? Or is this only the right of Muslims?

They argument is hollow.  No one who opposes the mosque at Ground Zero has said they don’t have a right to build a mosque.  That has never been the opposition’s argument for not building the mosque.

Ground Zero is sacred Ground to many Americans.  Over three thousand Americans lost their lives when we were attacked by the Muslims.  If you learn about and study anything about the Islamic religion you know a mosque at Ground Zero to the Muslims is a trophy.  A sign they have defeated the American infidels.

Would these same socialist Democrats argue for a skinhead building next to a synagogue or a KKK building next to a Martin Luther King Jr. shrine?

Obama Dividing America

United we stand, divided we fall.  For two years socialist Barack Hussein Obama campaigned that he would be the great uniter.  Since the day he was sworn in Obama has been the opposite.  No president has ever divided the country like Obama has.

Obama deliberately with every word drives a wedge between different groups.  At times,  it is blacks against whites, then Hispanics against whites.  He attacks achievers and blames them for the non achievers failures. 

On a daily basis Obama attacks Wall Street, banks, and lending institutions and treats them as an enemy.  He is relentless in his attempts to pit Americans against these institutions.

America doesn’t need a divider.  We need a president that brings all Americans together.  Every ethnic background, rich or poor united together.  Bring us together not divide us.

Obama is in his element when he is blaming someone or some group of people for whatever his topic of attack is that day.

Lying to America doesn’t faze Obama.  Time after time we hear him lie with a straight face.  It is as if he tells a lie enough times it then becomes the truth to him.

Obama is not a uniter.  He is by design a divider.  He knows to accomplish his socialist agenda he has to divide not unite.  He needs to pit one group against another. 

The change Obama promised America is a change to his socialist beliefs.  He doesn’t want America to succeed.  He wants America and Americans to be put in our place.  He wants America to be just another mediocre country, not strong and bountiful as we have been.

Progressive Movement Has Conference

A who’s who of the progressive movement met for a conference call organized by Families USA and hosted by the advocacy group for government-run health care, The Herndon Alliance. The Alliance’s partners include AARP, AFL-CIO, SEIU, MoveOn and La Raza, among many others.  They were there to deliver some bad news.

Democratic pollsters John Anzalone, Celinda Lake and Stan Greenberg were the call’s main event.  They were saying, “Democrats are acknowledging the failure of their predictions that the health care legislation would grow more popular after its passage, as its benefits became clear and rhetoric cooled.  The presentation also concedes that the fiscal and economic arguments that were the White House’s first and most aggressive sales pitch have essentially failed.”

Health care is not the only issue where the socialist left is retreating in the face of strong disapproval from the American people. Versionista, a Portland, Oregon-based company that tracks changes to the White House website, reported that the socialist Barack Hussein Obama administration had made “whole-cloth” changes to its “Energy & Environment” issues page.  Out are any references to a cap on carbon emissions and a campaign pledge to spend $150 billion on clean energy technologies.

The new White House site includes a three-minute Earth Day-themed video from Obama. And across the country progressive Senate candidates in Missouri, Kentucky, and Indiana have all come out against Obama’s impending trillion dollar tax hike, due in January.

There is no better symbol for the overreach of the socialist movement into the daily lives of all Americans than Obamacare. Repealing this intolerable act and replacing it with the foundations for a truly market-based health care system is one of the best ways conservatives can capitalize on liberalism’s retreat.

With the socialist Democrats in retreat it is not enough for conservatives to just say “no.”  Conservatives must have real plans for reform if the American people choose to empower them.  This can be the conservatives chance to fix the problems in America with real solutions.
