Kaine on McCain's House Gaffe

Wait, is this a wrestling match at the Olympics or a run for the White House? Who cares what either of them is worth? What difference does it make to the average American? Do they really think that we assume they can relate to us on a financial level? Has anyone ever met a poor politician?

From ABC News today;

Obama V.P. prospect and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine mocked Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., on Thursday for not knowing exactly how many houses he owns.
"I understand that Sen. McCain was asked yesterday this question, 'how many houses do you own?,' and he couldn't answer that question. He couldn’t count high enough apparently to even know how many houses he owns," said Kaine.

Naturally, this did not go unanswered from the McCain Camp

"Does a guy who made more than $4 million last year, just got back from vacation on a private beach in Hawaii and bought his own million-dollar mansion with the help of a convicted felon really want to get into a debate about houses?" asked McCain spokesman Brian Rogers.

This is going to get ugly, no doubt. For what it is worth, here is one opinion:

A politician should be judged not by his financial worth but by his accomplishments to date, his policies, and what he can do for our country.  Really, how much is in his pocket is not relative.  If in fact, we used that as a basis for a candidates worth then, I for one, would pick the guy with more money than God. Why not?  Wouldn't it make sense that the one with more money would be less likely to  be influenced and make decisions based on his or her personal financial gain?

I would suggest Governor Kaine come up with something better than what McCain is worth, or how many houses he owns if he plans on contributing to Barack Obama's campaign. He better slam somewhere it will make a real difference,  like maybe an issue facing the American people today and come up with his solution followed by how he is going to make this country a better place. That is what voters want to hear about.

Speak Now America! we want to hear from you!
