Obama Wins, Patriot Sen. John McCain Concedes

McCain Fights the Fight Hard, Stays A True Patriot To The End.

It was with integrity, class and humility that Sen. John McCain conceded the presidential race to Sen. Barack Obama.

A tremendous fight it was. It began as a steep uphill battle, a battle that became more and more complicated as it began. Sen. John McCain began his run for the presidency fighting the winds of George Bush blowback, an angry America over the war and the path they felt Bush had steered them into for the past eight years.

He was doing ok, he was taking small strides up that hill, giving his message, pushing through all the obstacles that considered him tethered to George Bush. He began to show people he was not George Bush, he picked Gov. Sarah Palin to show he was about change, he wanted to bring a fresh face and fresh ideas to Washington. People liked her despite the terrible attacks made on her.

Then in September with the top of the hill in sight, close enough to be confident of the win.......a sinkhole opened in his path......the economy collapsed. First it was the FannieMae/FreddieMac crisis, then the collapse of banks, the Wall Street plunge. Now what was within sight plunged Sen McCain to the bottom of the hill. The American people stopped hearing his message, the focus was only on the economy. It might have been best planned circumstantial strategy of the Democratic Party, this economic fall was by far the one thing that shot Sen.Obama to the top.

Obama stayed focused on the economy telling people it would be fixed, telling them he would help them.  He will give them healthcare,  create jobs etc.  Sen. McCain the statesman stayed on his path for an honest campaign. He chose not to drive home things about Obama that might have changed peoples minds. He instead went across America with Gov. Palin by his side to deliver hope to the American people.   He faced insurmountable challenged beyond his control.  Not only was he outspent by Sen Obama 2 to 1 he was faced with the fall of the economy and the legacy of George Bush.  Sadly, he was never able to get himself out from under the Bush umbrella, people were so scared and angry with our failing economy that anyone remotely attached to George Bush they wanted to defeat. Had the economy not been brought to the forefront in September we would no doubt be writing a different headline today.

It remains to be seen if President-Elect Obama delivers on his promise to his followers. We have the same fears we have had about this presidency and we must keep hope that what is right for all of America will be done. We have to hope that above all else, what is good for our country, our economy and our people will now take center stage and stomp speeches will now become reality.

Before a crowd of 245,000 people in Grant Park, Chicago President-Elect Obama delivered his victory speech of hope and change. From this day forward he will be watched closely to see how and if those words become reality.
