Why was the Rev. Al Sharpton’s Presidential campaign from 2004 audited? Why is it that Sen. McCain who only took the federal funds being audited? Why isn’t the socialist President elect Barack Hussein Obama’s campaign being audited?
There seems to be inequity in campaign audits by the Federal Election Commission. The failed attempt by the Rev. Al Sharpton to win the Democratic nomination in 2004 was audited. The Federal Election Commission has determined the Rev. Sharpton owes the U.S. Treasury $486,803. Rev. Sharpton received less than $100,000 in federal matching funds. The Government says Rev. Sharpton owes this money because of nearly $500,000 in illegal contributions and other financial improprieties.
The Federal Election Commission is obligated to perform a rigorous audit of Sen. McCain’s campaign. Sen. McCain’s campaign will have to explain every penny they spent. Every penny of the $84 million has to be accounted for. This audit is expected to take years. Not only will it take years it will cost Sen. McCain millions of dollars.
The Federal Election Commission is unlikely to conduct a potentially embarrassing audit of how Barack Obama raised and spent his presidential campaign’s record-shattering windfall, despite allegations of questionable donations and accounting that had many crying foul. The FEC, which would have to vote to launch an audit, is prone to deadlocking on issues that inordinately impact one party or the other – like approving a messy and high-profile probe of a sitting president.
President elect Barack Hussein Obama, the first presidential candidate to decline public funding in the general election would certainly provide fodder for the auditors with their visors pulled low at the Federal Election Commission. Socialist Obama’s campaign admitted it initially mis-categorized the purpose of an $832,598 payment for get-out-the-vote efforts to a consulting firm affiliated with ACORN and lied about having given them any money. ACORN, the community organizing group has become a top target for several states alleging voter fraud.
And Federal Election Commission analysts over the course of the campaign have written more than a dozen letters to Obama singling out hundreds of contributors for whom the campaign either didn’t supply adequate information or from whom he accepted donations exceeding the $4,600 limit. Federal Election Commission letters to Obama, singling out donations from apparently fictitious donors as well as from foreign addresses which are permitted as long as the donors are U.S. citizens. There have been allegations that the Obama campaign was willfully allowing foreign donations and excessive donations.
Socialist Obama’s campaign refuses to voluntarily release the names, addresses and employers of donors who gave less than $200 each; a group that accounted for about half of the more than $600 million that the campaign had raised through the end of September.
