Bailout Socialist Democrats Payback To UAW

No one wants to see GM, Ford, & Chrysler fail.  The job loss and economic destruction would be terrific.  That said, we can’t just bail the Big 3 out, there are too many endemic problems within the Big 3.  Many are self induced and many are government induced.

The socialist Democrats want badly to bailout the Big 3.  There are a couple reasons for the socialist Democrats wanting the bailout. The most important reason for the Democrats is UAW payback, the UAW has always backed the Democrats, the UAW now wants payback in spades.  The socialist Democrats are ready to let America pay the UAW back for them.  The socialist Democrats have passed many pieces of legislation over the past 25 years that in essence has taken many management decisions away from management at the BIG 3.  The CAFÉ (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards legislation, that have been imposed are impossible.  The invention, design, and implementation are years away, yet legislation says do it now. 

So GM, Ford, and Chrysler have to put what the buying public wants on the back burner so they can meet federal law.  In addition the UAW has strangled the Big 3.  The economy in Michigan is destroyed,  Michigan has been in a recession for years.  This recession has been caused by the tax and spend socialist Democrats along with the UAW stranglehold on the state.   President elect Barack Hussein Obama has shown a stroke of real genius, one of the socialist Obama’s economic advisors is Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm who has helped destroy Michigan’s economy.  The state is in a deep recession now and the socialist Granholm wants to raise taxes again in January.  What the UAW doesn’t destroy in Michigan the socialist Gov. Granholm will.

I’m not opposed to unions, what I am opposed to is a union that destroys an industry and then refuses to help in any way to keep that industry from going bankrupt.  The UAW is such a union.  The UAW and socialist Democrats want America to bailout the Big 3, yet the union is willing to make NO concessions to help the auto industry.  The socialist Democrats want to limit executive pay but they ask for no concessions from the UAW.   There is no equity in that socialist Democrat philosophy.

There is a $1600 cost built into every GM auto purchased for healthcare costs of UAW workers.  On the flip side, Toyota isn’t unionized and there is a $200 healthcare cost built in per auto.  The average GM, Ford, or Chrysler UAW worker makes an astounding $71 per hour.  With benefits it’s over $100 per hour for UAW workers.  Again at Toyota, Nissan, and others the average wage is about $48 per hour.  That is a $23 per hour difference doing the same job.

After 30 years of work, UAW workers retire with full pay and benefits for life.  Also as a concession for the UAW to let management automate plants the UAW forced the BIG 3 to make a job banks program.  Today GM has about 5.000 workers in the program, Chrysler added about 2,100 to the program and Ford another 1275 enrolled.   That is over 8,300 in the job works program.  America these people get full wages and benefits to do NOTHING, they sit around drink coffee and do crossword puzzles and we, Americans pay for this with every new car we buy.

Socialist Nancy Pelosi says there will be strings attached to a bailout.  There will be new fuel mileage requirements and required advanced technologies to compete in the global economy.  She says there will be new limits on management pay.  So let’s get this straight, tougher gas mileage restriction and lower management pay will fix the auto industry.  Oh wait, also,  there will be no dividends paid to share holders.  Apparently, Pelosi feels the crippling UAW contract has nothing to do with the problem? 

We have seen nothing in the bailout about $71 an hour in wages being reduced or the $29+ an hour in benefits being touched.  The socialist Democrats payback to the UAW costs us the taxpayers.  Everyone pays and suffers except the UAW.  Wait though that’s right UAW President Ron Gettelfinger said the union contract has nothing to do with the Big 3 financial problems. Gettelfinger said the UAW will make NO contract concessions with or without a bailout.

The UAW is laughing in America’s face.  America you bail us out and we do nothing but laugh at you while we go to the bank with your tax dollars.   There is a way out America. Let the Big 3 GM, Ford, and Chrysler file bankruptcy.  The first thing the Bankruptcy Judge will do is throw out the UAW contract.  That will take a huge burden that we taxpayers won’t have to pay for. The Big 3 can restructure, make cars, and pay workers decent wages without gouging you and me every time we buy a new car, they can be profitable. 

America there are auto manufacturing plants in right to work states and guess what?  The workers make very good wages, they have very good benefits, and the plants are profitable.  We aren’t being asked to bail them out.
