Charlie Crist, is the 44th Governor of the state of Florida. He assumed the office of Governor on January 2, 2007.  Born July 24, 1956 in Altoona, PA. Governor Crist is engaged to Carole Rome.
Crist attended Wake Forest University for two years, where he played at quarterback for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons football team. Crist earned his undergraduate degree from Florida State University and his law degree from the Cumberland School of Law in Alabama.

Prior to his election as Governor,  Crist served as Attorney General of Florida from 2003-2007. He served as Florida's Education Commissioner 2000-2003 and served in the Florida Senate 1992-1999.  Crist received the nickname "chain gang Charlie" because of his support for chain gangs for state prison inmates. He also co-sponsored law to make felons serve at least 85% of their sentences.

According to the St. Petersburg Times, Crist stays in shape by rising early, swimming 20 laps in the pool, and doing 250 crunches. Fitness conscious, he usually eats just one meal a day.

Charlie Crist has never forgotten his humble roots and remains committed to the values that have made America the envy of freedom-loving people.  His public service is defined by tireless devotion to the citizens of Florida, a fundamental belief in the goodness of people, and a rock-solid commitment to the core principles that have allowed his family to succeed—lower taxes, less government and more freedom.

Here is how Gov. Crist stands on some of the issues:

He is for the expansion of the federal death penalty
He is Pro-choice in education
He opposes NAFTA, supports tariffs, opposes Fast Track
He is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment

He is considerd "The People's Governor" and he refers to the people of Florida as his boss.  At a recent Governor's summit Crist had this to say:

"We must work, and I mean work, our way back to gain the confidence of the people. We must be results- and idea-driven so we have a competing vision and record of accomplishment to offer to the people. It is much easier to tell the people what you will do if you can point to what you have already done."
As governor of Florida, I have been privileged to work alongside both Republicans and Democrats. Together, we have accomplished much for the people of Florida by focusing on those who really matter — the people we serve — and by not worrying about who gets the credit. Together, we have taken historic measures to reform property taxes, property insurance, and how Floridians cast a ballot. "

Gov. Crist, is on our list of up and coming Conservatives who we believe will change the face of the Republican Party and bring back the conservative values and principles that made the Republican Party so great and which will make it great once more!
