America, if you have been paying attention to the news you know that the $780 billion dollar bailout that was approved a couple of months ago has had no effect whatsoever on our economy, even though more than half of it is gone. There has been no semblance of relief given to people losing their homes or their jobs.  Now we have the Big Three Automakers coming with their hands out looking to take a huge chunk out of what is left.  Do you think America there is an end to this once we start bailing out one poorly run business after another?

Rep. Louie Gohmert R-Tx has proposed a very important tax cut alternative to the Pelosi-Paulson bailout plan. Their plan takes the taxpayers' money and allows predatory politicians to micromanage it and in essence gives more control of the American economy to these bureaucrats, Gohmert's plan puts the money back into the pockets of the American people. Where it belongs!

In the Pelosi-Paulson plan the politicians decide which auto companies to save and how much taxpayer dollars to use which in the end will kill entrepreneurial innovation and market oriented flexibility.

In the Gohmert plan, it is the American people that are empowered not the politicians.  If Washington wants to insure that better energy efficient cars are to be built then let them do it in the form of a tax credit for those who buy the cars.  This changes the incentive to build them and to buy them and lets you the consumers decide what you want to buy.  We are the ones who should decide how our money is spent. Gohmert's plan however, is not tied to the purchase of a car, maybe you need extra money to make a mortgage payment or for your child's education. You would choose where the money was best spent.

Here are the basics of the plan:

There is $350 Billion dollars left of the original bailout funds approved.  This money is being thrown around everywhere. The fact is it could finance a "tax holiday" for every working American.

A tax holiday would mean that for all of January and all of February you would pay no federal income tax and no FICA tax. This amounts to about 33% of your gross pay. In addition Speaker Nancy Pelosi has proposed another $700 billion as an additional stimulus package that would fund another 4 month tax holiday.

That would mean NO working American would pay these taxes for the first six months of 2009. No businesses or employers would have to pay their share of the FICA tax either which would mean more money on the books for them.

What would this mean to you the worker?

You would have approximately 33% more money each week to use towards making your mortgage payments, saving for your child's education or spending on consumer items, cars i.e. or just investing it. 

It will allow America to grow again. It will take the money out of the hands of the bureaucrats and put it into the hands of the American workers to decide how it is spent.

Economics is not new to Rep. Gohmert; as Speaker of the House, he helped balance the federal budget for four consecutive years and to pay off $405 billion in federal debt. Rep. Gohmert says
