Elections, Scandals, Inflated Oil Prices 2008, a Look Back.

Politics 2008 Year in Review

1. The election of  Barack Obama. By far tops the list, not only because of its historic value but the way in which this election was run, the corruption involved and the cult like following that surrounds Barack Obama.

The Obama campaign was filled with impressive technology that made corruption that much easier and anonymous.  With 3.3 million members added to his database he was able to lead his "cult like" members to the plate to deliver his message where he could not. They were stymied by his promise of change, his promise of less taxes and free money. Socialism was born, Obama made it clear he would lead this country by redistributing the wealth so all things were equal.  Obama's private army, in a combined effort were instrumental in accepting socialism as spoken by Obama and his democratic friends and together they have helped lead the fall of democracy in our country. With days away from President-Elect Barack Obama taking office, life in these United States will never be the same again.

He raised over $700 million in a bad economy.  All of this should have brought about media frenzy however, the "Supreme Being" was protected by the press. This was not an invisible fence, this was blatant favoritism and the collapse of the American press as we used to know. No longer could we expect to be told the news, we would hear the news as the media decided it should be told.  A
sad note in 2008 was the passing of Tim Russert host of Meet the Press and Tony Snow the White House Press Secretary. Both were professionals with many credits to their long carriers and journalists. They are missed by many.

2.  The summer saw oil prices soar.  The price of a gallon of gas climbed to $4.50 a gallon and in parts of America it was even higher.  This had an effect on other consumer product pricing, one being food.   We saw socialists Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid recess Congress as Americans suffered.   The two leaders of Congress said they didn’t know what to do. Which socialist Democratic leader is heavily invested in alternative energy?     Who has enough money to manipulate the price of oil that much and which political party benefited from it?  The socialist press never investigated and reported on any of this.

3.  Soaring gas prices started an avalanche of economic problems.  The socialist Democrats for years had been meddling in the home mortgage arena forcing lenders into subprime loans. Now finally coming back to bite them, the high oil prices began to cut into the pockets of Americans and people could no longer  pay their mortgages.  The economic crisis started and is still with us and has since magnified.  Now the same socialist democrats who caused the crisis are taking over businesses in the name of saving them.  Also, interesting tis that the Iraqi war turned in our favor, the election tightened up, and then oil prices went up.  The economy faltered and benefitted which political party?

4. Farewell to Tyrants? After transferring power in 2006 to his brother Raul, Fidel Castro decided not to run for re-election in 2008. After more than 47 years in power, Fidel Castro passed the torch to his brother Raul.  Raul Castro was elected President in February 2008.  Since taking power Raul has loosened the reigns a bit such as allowing Cubans to patronize tourist hotels and to own cell phones, DVD players, and computers. All of this is fueling speculation about how fast Raúl will pursue the "China model" of a managed creep toward free markets.

Moving to North Korea the status of the health of Kim Jong II is still a mystery. The king of manipulation has kept at bay the true status of his health since suffering from a stroke back in August 2008.  There have been limited reports about his appearances and he was conspicuously absent from a military parade celebrating the 60th anniversary of the founding of North Korea. When thinking of these tyrants and dictators we wonder if the inexperience of our President- elect is going to result in many a test of his power at the expense of the American people.

5. Scandals and politics. 2008 did not wane for a list of scandals. They were abundant and varied.  On the list is former Sen. John Edwards D-NC, vehemently denying an affair with one of his aides, and his final admission of "making a serious mistake", then came New York Governor Elliot Spitzer, and his involvement in a high priced prostitution ring. He resigned in March 2008 after admitting to being a client of the ring. Adding to the sex scandal list was Sen. Larry Craig R-ID who had been arrested for homosexual lewd conduct in the men's restroom at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in 2007 and even after February 13, 2008, when the Senate Ethics Committee sent a letter of admonition to Craig stating that his "improper conduct" had reflected "discreditably" on the United States. Senator Craig refused to give up his Senate seat.

Outside the sex scandal arena we had reports of five term Sen. Chris Dodd D-CT receiving over $800,000 in sweetheart deals from Countrywide mortgage. Moving on and by the way we can only touch on these scandals as there are so many. We go now to Rep. Charie Wrangle who expected no one to notice or think there was anything odd about his obtaining four rent stabilized buildings in his NYC district at 50% of the market value. Hmmmmm. Similarly,  in Louisiana Rep. William Jefferson is being investigated for his relationship to telecommunications deals in Africa and elsewhere in addition to the Feds finding $90,000 in his freezer among the frozen peas and corn.

Now to end the year with a bang, we have the Blago scandal.  It is almost comical at times watching this guy speak as if there is nothing wrong even when he knows they have him on tape.  The Blagojevich scandal which is no surprise coming out of Chicago the home of thug politics. He is accused of trying to sell the Senate seat left empty by President Elect Barack Obama. Obama was caught in a lie saying he had not discussed the filling of the seat with Blago, then within 24 hours a video appeared showing David Axelrod a senior staffer for Obama saying " I know President Elect Obama has talked to him about it" which then in turn thank goodness launched a very thorough investigation of the entire Obama organization by the Obama organization and the results?  Well of course, " no one did anything wrong" So there!

Blago continues on with life as usual amongst impeachment threats. He goes on camera telling the people of Illinois he will not resign, he has done nothing wrong and he will fight until his last breath. We only hope that comes sooner than later. Stay tuned for this one America, we think the Obama camp is wrapped up tight in this one and we are going to keep digging. Between Blago, Rahm Emanuel and President Elect Obama it looks like Chicago thug politics are about to move into the West Wing.

6.  A bright spot in 2008 was Gov. Sarah Palin.  Gov. Palin is a true conservative with morals and ethical values.  No wonder the socialist Democrats and press are so afraid of her.  She is everything the socialists aren’t.  We witnessed the corrupt socialist press attack of Gov. Palin again and again.  Gov. Palin is part of the future for conservatives.  She represents the ethical and moral values the Republican Party and America need and want.

7.  The internet is forever changing politics and how political campaigns are run.  Further with a big enough internet base you can change the outcome of political issues.  President elect Barack Hussein Obama understands the power of the internet, for some reason the Republican Party is light years behind.

Obama used the internet well during the campaign.  Most of the $605 million he raised came though the internet.  Obama used it to out advertise Sen. McCain, 3 to 1 at least,  as well as being a part of numerous websites and blogs.  What is most important now is that even now after the election, he has over 3 million email addresses. This is the roadmap to  what will become his own private army of sorts.  The digital age allows for social networking that can reach every part of the globe, podcasting, videos the list goes on and on. The internet has changed politics forever.

8.  The socialist Democrats showed how detestable they are when it comes to the heroic men and women in the military.  President elect Barack Hussein Obama and many other socialist Democratic leaders called our heroes that defend this country murderers.  They also voted not to fund the military in this battle.  How sick and un-American are they?  As the surge proved it was working in Iraq that is what the socialist Democrats were doing.  The socialist press became silent as the surge worked. Socialist Obama showed how inept he is when the Russia / Georgia situation happened.  It took him 3 tries to get it right and then parroted Sen. John McCain.  As he takes office we have India and Pakistan at odds.  Keep in mind both have nuclear weapons.  We have terrorists in Afghanistan causing more and more problems.  Israel is finally taking care of Hamas that has killed hundreds of Israelis.  Think about it America, Obama needs at least 3 tries to get things right and he won’t have Sen. McCain to copy now.

9.  How corrupt has the election process become?  If Minnesota is an example then America we have a very bad problem.  With the help of corrupt socialist Democratic leaders and judges the Senate race in Minnesota is being stolen.  If it weren’t so frightening it would be comical.  Franken says tomorrow “I’ll be ahead by 47 votes”  and the very next day the corrupt politicians say he is.  We have had votes found in car trunks days after the election.  We had over a hundred votes with no paper trail that just appeared.  Mysteriously all of the votes were for Franken.  We are to believe more people in Minnesota voted for Franken than did for Obama.  The socialist press once again not doing their job and refusing to report honestly on this 3rd world type of political mess.

10. The Bush Legacy.  After 8 years as sitting President of the United States George Walker Bush has seen his approval rating falter. Still, he has stood strong on his beliefs and stands even when it did not make him popular. He did not wane, he did not falter.  President Bush took office in January of 2001 and 8 months later the United States suffered the worst terrorist attack on its own soil with the attacks of 9/11. No other President has had to deal with such a thing. The devastation felt by our Nation, physically, financially and emotionally was unprecedented.  He promised swift action to those involved and he delivered.  Then came hurricane Katrina, totally devastating to New Orleans and what has now become known as a huge bumbled mess was by some opinions, Bush’s fault too. Everything since has been his fault. The horrible economy, the fall of the housing markets all his fault. He has easily become everyone's punching bag and he is used for the blame that should be bestowed upon so many others. Still he is able to stand tall and stick by his words. We are happy he doesn't pay attention and live by polls. He does his job and he isn't swayed and doesn't falter. It remains to be seen what we will be writing about the incoming President Elect Barack Obama at this time next year. Stay tuned.

Happy New Year from Speak Now America! we want to hear from you.
