However, once we separate ourselves from the entertainment value does anyone wonder how he is still in office? How scary is it that he is still governing the State of Illinois? We know that Chicago politics are and have been corrupt but this is taking it a bit far. 

What next?  Maybe he will soon rule over the state budget and puts a nice chunk of money in there for a Governor's bonus or maybe a First Lady stipend? How long are they going to let this nutcase stay in office? Exactly what are they waiting for? The FBI is now asking for an extension on his indictment from January 7th to April. Seriously, are they going to leave him in office all that time?

A brief synopsis for anyone who has been up in space for the past month and hasn't heard of this joker. Rodney Blagojevich is the Democratic Gov. of Illinois who has been under investigation for a very long time, he was being wiretapped and was taped trying to sell the Senate seat left open by President Elect-Obama to the highest bidder.

He was arrested and picked up by FBI agents at his home the morning of December 9, 2008.

Almost immediately, President Elect Obama had a press conference and denied personal knowledge of the corruption. "I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening."

This was contrary to his Senior Advisor David Axelrod's comment on Fox News Chicago, prior, on November 23 saying that

"I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

This then started a whole storm because we know Obama lies and when he gets caught he lies to cover the lies.  He then decided to try to appease us Americans and a conduct FULL thorough internal investigation. It was conducted by his own people and once finished he stated there was No wrongdoing and no connection. Nothing like corrupt politicians policing themselves.

This is not the end to the Blago/Obama connection, there are questions about past Rahm Emanuel and Blagojevich dealings as well.

Now, back to Blago. He was arrested almost a month ago, brought out of his house in the darkness of the early morning. He is totally aware that he was taped trying to sell the Senate seat amongst other charges, yet he goes on day to day as if there is nothing wrong. He is totally smug. He goes on camera telling everyone he is totally innocent and will fight until his last breath.  He tells people " they can tape me all they want, everything I say is lawful" He is comical.

In his latest move he decides to make the Senate appointment to stir things up a bit more. He appoints 71 years old Roland Burris, the former attorney general and a fellow Democrat. Immediately official statements start to fly from Harry Reid and others stating that there is no way they will accept Blagojevich's pick.  Senate Majority leader Harry Reid  said, "Under the Constitution, We determine who sits in the Senate. And the House (of Representatives) determines who sits in the House. So there's clearly legal authority for us to do whatever we want to do. This goes back for generations."

Reid called Burris a "tainted appointment" because of the governor's alleged misconduct, although he said he did not know of anything wrong with Burris himself.

Asked if Burris will become a U.S. senator, Reid said, "It will be very difficult for that to occur." But he added, "Anything can happen."

Many assume that Blagojevich made this appointment in a calculated move. Roland Burris happens to be black. Blago is probably banking on the fact that the race card will be used if Burris is not accepted into the Senate. He would be the only black man in the US Senate.  By making this appointment he doesn't go down alone, while he is being strung up for all the corruption that has caught up with him over the years the papers and nightly news will be filled with the reports that the US Senate is a racist organization and is blocking the way for the only black US Senator to take office. Shame on us!

Blago knows full well, he is going down, he just wants some company with him. The right thing to do is for him to step down and let his Lt Governor take over but no, this guy with the big head of hair hasn't taken his last breath yet so he isn't leaving.  We suspect in the end he will be carried out kicking to join the other corrupt thug politicians in jail in Chicago.
