The hero of Flight 1549, pilot Chesley B. Sullenberger III, walked the aisles of the downed US Airways jet twice looking for passengers before exiting the plane.

A US Airways Airbus A320 bound for Charlotte, N.C., struck a flock of birds just after takeoff this afternoon.  The birds knocked out both jet engines.
A passenger said Capt. Sullenberger” was phenomenal." Passenger Joe Hart said, "He landed it — I tell you what — the impact wasn't a whole lot more than a rear-end (collision). It threw you into the seat ahead of you. "Both engines cut out and he actually floated it into the river," he added.

Capt Sullenberger landed the plane in the river with both engines gone with help from his first officer Jeff Skiles, 49.  With temperatures of only 20 degrees the heroes of the NYFD Rescue went into quick action to rescue quickly all 155 on board.

All were heroic, and Capt. Sullenberger you are a true hero that deserves Americans thanks!

We thank you!
