Why Do Socialist Democrats Want UN Taxing Americans

Why did the socialist Democrats in the Senate defeat an amendment to the omnibus appropriations bill to reinstitute a long-standing policy of preventing the United Nations from using any U.S. funds from appropriations bill to pursue global tax schemes? By a vote of 43-51 the amendment was defeated.   This provision has appeared in every annual appropriations bill since 1996, and this year marks the first time an annual appropriations bill will not contain this policy.

“Prohibiting U.S. taxpayers funding of U.N. global taxes in annual appropriations bills has been a bipartisan U.S. policy that began over a decade ago under the Clinton Administration,” Senator Jim Inhofe (R-OK) said. “My amendment to the FY’09 omnibus appropriations bill would have reinstated this important U.S. policy and ensured that officials at the U.N. and other international bureaucracies who receive generous funding from U.S. taxpayers do not pursue or implement policies of international taxes on U.S. taxpayers.

In 1996, the UN Secretary General announced that the UN was interested in pursuing a global tax scheme.  Congress passed, and President Clinton signed into law, a policy rider in the Foreign Ops and State Dept appropriations bill that would prevent the UN from using any US funds to pursue global tax schemes.  This has been the law since the original bill was passed.

As recently as 2005, the language at the UN has become more explicit. The 2005 UN Human Development Report envisions “raising additional revenue through international taxation mechanisms.” There is also a significant complementary benefit to the UN’s international taxation schemes, which was described by UN Secretary General Boutros Boutros-Ghali in 1996: an international tax would mean that the UN “would not be under the daily financial will of the Member States.”

Why did the socialist Democrats vote against protecting Americans from unjust taxation?  It would mean delegating sovereignty to an unaccountable international bureaucracy, one which has often not taken enough steps to combat corruption in its ranks.  We have seen the corruption and waste in the UN.

Does the socialist Obama and Democrats want a global economy?  Do they want to give control of America to the UN and foreign countries who want us dead?  Do socialist Obama and the Democrats think they are going to rule the world?  Do they think people who want us dead will let them rule them?

America this is the first step in giving up our sovereignty.  Is that what socialist Obama and the Democrats want?  Do they want us to give up our freedom so they become the ruling elite?
