American Held Hostage Day 5

American hero Capt. Richard Phillips is being held hostage for a fifth day.  The lifeboat with him and four Somali Muslim pirates is drifting toward shore.  The boat is reported to be within 40 miles of land at this time.

The Somali Muslim pirates are nearing Garacad, a pirate stronghold, and if they are allowed to reach shore Capt. Phillips will be in much more danger.  When the Captain jumped in the water yesterday why didn’t the U.S. Navy sink the lifeboat?  Is the Navy under orders not to fire, even when there was the chance to save Capt. Phillips?

Does socialist Obama and the Democrats even care?  The socialists have remained silent during this American hostage taking.  They are making America look impotent to the world.  Terrorists worldwide are watching this impotence by socialist Obama.

A Pentagon spokesman said Saturday night that negotiations to free Phillips were continuing.  The New York Times reported the talks broke down Saturday, quoting Somali officials as blaming a U.S. insistence that the pirates must be arrested. Another report from Fox News says the talks broke down because American negotiators aren’t offering enough money. These reports have not been fully vetted.

The U.S. Navy has assumed the pirates would try to get their hostage to shore, where they can hide him on Somalia's lawless soil and be in a stronger position to negotiate a ransom.  This will put Capt Phillips in even more danger than now.

Early Saturday, the pirates holding Phillips in the lifeboat fired a few shots at a small U.S. Navy vessel that had approached, a U.S. military official said on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.  These Somali Muslim pirates seem to have no fear of the U.S. Navy.

The Alabama crew arrived in Mombasa on Saturday.  Crewman William Rios, 41, of New York City, described the whole experience as a "nightmare" and said the first thing he will do back home is go to church.

"He saved our lives!" second mate Ken Quinn, of Bradenton, Florida, declared from the ship deck. "He's a hero."  America this holy Easter Sunday please keep Capt. Phillips and the whole Alabama crew in your prayers.  Capt. Phillips is a hero and saved his crew, now we must save him!
