Olympic Committee Knocks Out Chicago In Round One

Did President Obama’s Jetting Around The Globe Apologizing For America Hurt Chicago’s Chances?

You can’t expect that the world does not watch what is happening in the USA. Not only has our President gone over the globe and apologized for our country as if we have done something wrong he also has put us in financial ruins. Did the OIC figure there was no way Chicago could ever fund such a venture as big as the Olympics? Did they think America was bad because its President has said so?

The Olympics were awarded to a South American city for the first time when the International Olympic Committee on Friday voted for Rio de Janeiro to host the 2016 Games.  Embarrassingly Chicago lost heavily on the 1st round.  Chicago got just 18 of 94 votes cast in the first round, after Madrid’s 28, Rio’s 26 and Tokyo’s 22.

Elitist progressive Barack Hussein Obama said in his presentation that a nation shaped by the people of the world "wants a chance to inspire it once more."

"I urge you to choose Chicago," Obama told members of the International Olympic Committee. "And if you do if we walk this path together then I promise you this: The city of Chicago and the United States of America will make the world proud."

Chicago had started as front-runners and most Olympic observers had expected the Obama factor and he and the First lady Michelle Obama spent two days lobbying in Copenhagen and also addressed the IOC session to be decisive.  Did the Olympic committee take elitist progressive Obama at his word?  Obama has crisscrossed the world apologizing for how bad America is why should they believe now the US would make the world proud?

IOC President Jacques Rogge announced the decision to give the Games to Rio after three rounds of voting. Chicago, despite a speech to the IOC by President Obama, who had put his credibility on the line by flying in to address the IOC just before the vote, went out as fourth and last in the first round of voting, one of the biggest shocks in an Olympic ballot.

It is a disappointment for America to lose the Olympic bid.  The question now remains what message the IOC was sending to Obama and America.  Is an overwhelming defeat on the 1st vote when you are the front-runner going in, a message that Obama’s mea culpa’s to the world were not the right thing to preach to the world?
