Democrats Want To Raise Debt Ceiling Another $1.9 Trillion

Democrats Increased Federal Expenditures And Pay Now We Must Pay

In a move to increase the national debt to a soaring record of $14.3 trillion the socialist Democrats have proposed raising the debt limit by another $1.9 trillion. The $1.9 trillion is approximately $6,600 per every man, woman, and child in America.

Less than a decade ago, $1.9 trillion would have been enough to finance the operations and programs of the federal government for an entire year. Now, it's only enough to make sure Democrats can avoid another vote before Election Day.

The Democrats have delivered no budget cuts in these tough economic times. Instead they have raised expenditures in every area of the government. They gave federal employees raises while hard working taxpayers are losing their jobs. Over 1,700 federal employees received raises of more than the 2% that put their annual salary at $170,000.

The federal government under socialist Barack Hussein Obama now has an increase of more than 1,700 new workers making over $170,000. The only place in America with low unemployment is the areas around Washington D. C.. Under Obama the federal government is expanding at phenomenal rates.

The record increase in the so-called debt limit is required because the budget deficit has spiraled out of control in the wake of a recession that cut tax revenues, the Wall Street bailout, and increased spending by the Democratic-controlled Congress. Last year's deficit hit a phenomenal $1.4 trillion, and the current year's deficit promises to be as high or higher.

"We have gone to the restaurant. We have eaten the meal. Now the only question is whether we will pay the check," said Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, (D-MT). "We simply must do so."

Senator John Thune (R-SD) immediately offered an amendment to end the bank and Wall Street bailout, officially known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP. Thune would prohibit further expenditure of TARP funds and would require that all funds paid back be used to retire debt.

A White House policy statement said the increase "is critically important to make sure that financing of federal government operations can continue without interruption and that the creditworthiness of the United States is not called into question."

The latest increase comes on top of a stopgap $290 billion measure that cleared the Senate on Christmas Eve. Given the country's finances, that measure would last only about six weeks, lawmakers said, requiring the far larger measure that's pending.

The Democrats keep spending and spending. The economy keeps getting worse. It’s time for them to stop and as Senator Thune said use the TARP money to retire debt. Obama doesn’t want to do that. TARP is his slush fund to use behind closed doors.

With this increase America’s total debt of $14.9 trillion will be approximately $46,200 per every man, woman, and child in America. That is the amount every American would have to pay to eliminate the debt. Congress is selling America to China and other foreign countries in their spending frenzy.
