Bill To Keep Bush Tax Cuts

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is taking a stand for freedom and the hard working American Taxpayers.  He is introducing a bill in the Senate that would prevent anyone from paying a higher tax rate next year than they do this year. This would effectively extend all of the Bush tax cuts for another year and give a new Congress the chance to straighten this mess out.

Democrats, in the meantime, are pushing this absurdity that only 3% of small business owners would be hit with the tax increase. The fact is that 48% of the income that would be hit with the tax increase would be small business income. These businessmen and women either send 5%+ of this money to Washington to be spent on Democrat dreams and schemes, or the money stays in the hands of the businessmen who earned it where it can be used to grow businesses and, actually hire new people.

According to McConnell, “The good news is that a growing chorus of Democrats, including at least five here in the Senate, are coming round on this issue. They oppose the tax hikes the administration is proposing. That’s why I’m introducing legislation today that ensures that no one in this country will pay higher income taxes next year than they are right now.”

The tax hike the administration is proposing, according to the IRS, would apply to half of all small business income in this country. And an analysis by the National Federation of Independent Business shows that businesses that employ 20 to 250 people would be hardest hit. All told, according to the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation, hundreds of thousands of small businesses would see their taxes go up next year under the administration’s plan.

The socialist Democrats have a choice: they can stand with us on this proposal and show that they finally realize we can’t spend our way out of the recession. Or they can continue to stand with an administration whose policies — real and threatened — represent the greatest obstacle to our nation’s economic recovery.
