3 Ways To Eliminate The Federal Deficit

Congressional Budget Office Data

Every intelligent American knows we must eliminate the federal deficit.  The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has run three scenarios of ways to eliminate the deficit in within seven years or less.  These projections eliminate the deficit without cutting spending or raising taxes on any Americans.

The three scenarios:

•Cap federal spending at current levels and extend the Bush tax cuts the budget will be balanced by 2016.

•Limit increases in government spending to a rate of 1 percent above inflation and population growth the budget will balance by 2017.

•Limit increases in government spending to a rate of 2 percent above inflation and population growth the budget balances by 2020.

Obama has increased federal spending by over 10% since taking office.  He has grown the federal government and given federal employees raises while most Americans suffer through the recession.

Any of the three scenarios is an excellent starting point.  More can be and should be done though.  Cutting taxes would give growth to jobs and the economy.  Freezing the budget until at least 50% of the deficit is paid back would give Americans more confidence in our government.
