Clinton Attempting To Rescue Obama

Democrats Add Too Much Pork To Tax Compromise

Bill Clinton is again trying to help Barack Obama the most unqualified President in America’s history.  After private talks Friday Clinton and Obama paid a surprise visit to the briefing room.  Clinton said, “I personally believe this is a good deal, and the best he could have gotten under the circumstances."

Obama praised Clinton, "he presided over as good an economy as we've seen in our lifetimes." Then Obama quickly excused himself to go join his wife, First Lady Michelle Obama, at a holiday party.  A holiday party is more important to Obama than America’s economy.  Obama also said this week that he won’t go on vacation until the Start treaty is passed.  Again Obama showing he has no concern for suffering Americans.

Clinton, invited by Obama in the wake of that defeat, told insurgent Democrats he understood their anger at a compromise with Republicans to extend for two years a set of massive tax cuts due to expire January 1.

"However, the agreement taken as a whole is, I believe, the best bipartisan agreement we can reach to help the largest number of Americans and to maximize the chances that the economic recovery will accelerate and create more jobs and to minimize the chances that it will slip back," said Clinton.

The tax deal, reached behind the scenes and still informal, now includes ethanol subsidies for rural folks, commuter tax breaks for their cousins in the cities and suburbs and wind and solar grants for the environmentalists -- all aimed at winning votes, particularly from reluctant Democrats.

Harry Reid didn’t stop there though with the pork.  He also added such important things as online casino betting.  That will surely help Americans without jobs.  Also tax credits for hybrid automobiles, biodiesel fuel, coal and energy-efficient household appliances would be extended through the end of 2011 under the new add-ons.

This tax compromise has become nothing more than a pork bill.  The Republicans should demand a straight up or down vote on retaining the Bush tax cuts.  Do what America voted for on November 2nd.
