The Economic Disparity

Then And Now

In the late 1930s, only the rich people could afford electric washing machines, and the really affluent could afford an electric washer with a wringer. Most families had ice boxes back then. There weren't many people who could afford refrigerators.

Almost everything was hand-me-down, from furniture to clothes and toys.

With World War II, suddenly, families were out of poverty with many jobs available because of war production.

They could afford to rent half of a house (at times we had lived in basements) and were actually moving all the way up to lower middle class.

This country has been affluent ever since.

Now the poor have electric utensils in the kitchen, three meals a day, central heat and air conditioning, a car or two (or more), a large color TV and a roof over your head and more than one bedroom, you are, indeed, affluent.

There have never been so many whining, spoiled liberals in my life! They have no clue as to what hard times were like.

They expect to be coddled from birth to death with someone else funding the bill. The federal government is their nanny. This has all been generated in the public school system where kids are taught that they are not responsible for anything, and that if you throw a big enough tantrum, someone will give you what you want.

Back in the day, you could pop one of these whiney brats in the side of the head and set them straight. Maybe it is time to get back to that.
